What are Crowns?

A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and appearance of a natural tooth.

We offers several top class choices with regards to white crowns, from economy precious metal based alloys to gold (60%) or metal based porcelain crowns and ceramic metal free crowns which are as strong as the porcelain bonded variety. We use state of the art cad-cam milled technology to produce crowns with immaculately natural appearance and fit.

An Onlay is also produced using cad-cam technology where a scanned impression of your prepared tooth is used to produce a restoration that will build up your tooth back to its original structure.

Why would I need a Crown or an Onlay?

Crowns and Onlays are an ideal restoration for teeth that have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. A crown could be used for a number of other reasons, for instance:

• you may have discoloured fllings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth

• you may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect the remaining tooth

• it may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.
